Name: Joe Acciaio
Gender/Sex: Male
Age: 36
Height: 5'6
Physique: Compact and well-built, surprisingly strong for his size.
Hair: Blond mullet
Eyes: Blue
Clothing description: Usually wears a clean white or light gray suit and black sunglasses.
Occupation: Head of the Andreci crime family, Member of the Council of One Hundred, United States Congressman
Home City: Mercury City
Housing location:
Backstory:
Acciaio was born Frederick Miller, a young man of German descent living in the slums of Blackwork, the son of a union boss and a local nurse (and former flower-child). The young Frederick was a fan of classic B-movies and the new wave of classic "mobster" pictures that were released in the late 90's and early 2000's as the Syndicate began its rise to power. He dropped out of high school as a teenager, and, as he approached his college days, found his place as a footsoldier for the Andreci crime family, a member of the Syndicate, where he changed his name to "Joe Acciao."
Acciaio was a popular figure among the Andreci's associates. His charisma and leadership talents led many to see him as a serious contender for the leadership of the Andreci family. The leaders of the family, however, found the man overly flashy, and assumed he would eventually get himself either assassinated or committed.
Then, in 2018, Acciaio was arrested for racketeering. He approached his trial not so much as a Sword of Damocles waiting to render his judgment, but as his debut on national television. He not only won a stunning victory, but also left with a public image as a kind of modern day Robin Hood, a hero to the lower class.
That was all the momentum Acciaio needed to lead his revolution.
By 2021, Acciaio had propelled himself to the leadership of the Andreci family and gained himself a seat on the Council of One Hundred. He is now considered a serious contender to succeed Saligeri upon his death.
Other:
Acciaio does not believe in the traditional wisdom of the mafia don. He believes in being in the public eye, that a good PR campaign is just as important as being friends with the Chief of Police. He openly sponsors public works, runs charities, ran for Congress, and plans to run for the Senate. The Andreci family has its own press secretary, always make sure to keep a clean image of the organization in the public eye.
In person, he is generous and friendly, cultivating an air of a boisterous, perhaps a little thick, but ultimately good-hearted hero fighting for the little guy. This masks a biting ruthlessness and a shockingly dexterous mind.
Acciaio is as driven by his low-class background and parents' left-wing political views as he is by his drive to succeed. He lives in the spirit of a Marxist revolutionary, achieving his ends through political means in the national legislature, and violent ones in the Syndicate. As a revolutionary, he has considerable support among the members of the Syndicate not represented by the Council of One Hundred, as well as several of the weaker members of the Council, but is radically opposed by Scaligeri and the larger gangs. He is radically anti-establishment, opposed in particular to both large corporations and the larger crime families, although he is not a complete anarchist.
