Supervillian alias: ‘Silent Night’
Gender/Sex: Female(?)
Age: Humanoid portion of body appears to be nine to ten years old.
Height: Humanoid ‘core’ is 4’5, but the surrounding mass of flexible white wings can unfurl up to 15 feet out when moving.
Physique: Humanoid ’core’ appears to be a slender, pale girl with cataracted eyes and white hair attached by it’s upper back to a well-muscled mass of flesh and bone that anchors a dozen-odd pairs of stout, flexible wings that Silent Night uses as limbs to move about and shield its humanoid core from exposure, the latter much more vulnerable and, apparently, important than the former.
Costume description: None. The humanoid core is naked and usually hidden under four or more pairs of wings, but the wings do tend to get rather blood-stained during Silent Night’s hunts.
Powers/Abilities: Silent Night’s feathered portions are immensely resilient and strong if not the most dexterous hunter. The creature’s white feathers drink in sound around it as a form of nourishment, making the wings and anything wrapped in them utterly silent. The wings flesh are covered in millions of tiny venomous stingers that cause a living victim, Silent Night’s prey, to scream with agony, the better to feed the beast once they are captured. Damaged wings and feathers can regenerate completely in 48 hours if the creature is fed enough.
This toughness does not extend to the humanoid ‘core’, typically curled in the fetal position in a dreamless slumber, sustained by the feathered bulk, injury to her far slower to repair and toughness exactly what you’d expect from a child ’her’ age and appearance. Blind and deaf, the creature tracks it’s prey by smell, touch, and a short-ranged ’near sense’.
Home City: Blackwork City. Well, that’s where it’s going to be nesting anyway.
Citizen Alias: None, it’s feral, mostly-nonhuman horror that likes to torture it’s prey to death to satisfy it’s own hunger and protect it‘s own existence.
Backstory: A few alternate realities away from the world that houses the mostly-cheerful world of Mercury City, is an Earth where the mass coming of the Supers was a touch earlier and quite a bit more violent, the supernatural forces more prone to producing demons and madmen than angels and scientists. Civilization maintained itself, in a shrunken, authoritarian fashion, in an ever shrinking number of fortified conclaves, torn asunder from within or without, one by one, by the chaotic forces dominating their world until 1957 when the last city was destroyed. Mankind was reduced to fearful bands of hunter-gatherers, enslaved or hunted by the abhuman daemon-gods that their world’s Super population had ultimately devolved to, each new Super born or created another potential tyrant in this twilight of the gods.
Silent Night is one of the weaker, more feral of the monsters birthed by it’s world, the result of a grief-stricken father’s love for his fatally-stricken child and the super science he commanded that allowed him to craft the symbiotic-horror who could protect her and keep her in biological and mental stasis while he worked for a permanent cure for the terminal illness ravaging through her veins. He was killed twenty years ago by a rival Super with his work far from done, Silent Night escaping into the wilderness to earn its fearful appellation from the local tribes, a monster that could not be anticipated on moonless nights, dragging silently screaming victims off into the darkness of the hills where they are never seen again by their fearful kin.
And now some dark twist of fate and power gone wrong dropped this hellish survivor in our world. After several months of mostly low-key hunting for victims in Blackwork City, Silent Night ran afoul of a cult of magic users who bound and charmed it long enough to transport it a secure location in Mercury City. Whatever they intent to do with the monster will no doubt be less than positive.
