Name: Capt. Keira Stokes
Gender/Sex: Female
Age: 28
Height: 5'8"
Physique: Slim/Athletic
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue
Clothing description:
In uniform, Stokes wears an EGOarms-developed powered suit. The suit doesn't actually power movement in any way. Rather, it can offer camouflage when the user is still. The suit is mildly armored in vital areas, such as knees, elbows, chest, back and shoulders. The helmet resembles a gas mask and renders the user immune to bright flashes, as from a flashbang, and incorporates several vision modes, such as heat and motion tracking. The last feature is a combat drug injector. The available drugs are:
Ice: Lowers body heat to appear room-temperature on heat trackers.
Bliss: Morphine
Pain: By stretching veins and stimulating nerves by irritating them, this drug makes the user faster on the draw. It allows Stokes to react a split-second faster than she normally would, but is physically taxing.
Stokes' weapons vary with the mission, and are supplied by EGOarms most advanced R&D division. One constant is a rifle that fires specialized 7.62 rounds. Some of these rounds include tungsten core rounds for armored and particularly tough supers, corrosive venom rounds for supers with regenerative abilities and miniature shotgun rounds that are hard for super-fast supers to dodge. Her other constant weapon is a monomolecular sword worn across her back. Perfect for cutting through super-tough skin, it's her method of choice for executing her prey.
Out of uniform, Stokes generally prefers jeans and a leather jacket. as well as sunglasses or a hat that covers her face. Her black hair is cut just above shoulder length, and she takes pains to conceal her painfully blue eyes, lest she draw undue attention. Despite modesty bordering on total concealment, it's impossible not to notice that Keira is disturbingly, almost animalistically, attractive. She takes no pride in her appearance and takes few pains to enhance it, but it has nonetheless helped her in life.
Occupation: EGOsec Captain
Home City: Blackwork
Housing location: Blackwork Downtown apartment
Backstory:
The EGOsec APC slid through the streets of Blackwork, unnoticed in the night's darkness. Those who did see the APC with its EGOcorp crest, pretended like they didn't. As it arrived two blocks away from a parking garage across the street from a bank, 6 black-clad figures slid out and quickly moved to the building, scaling to the fourth floor without ever exposing themselves to security cameras. Meanwhile, the bank's alarm sensor was tripped.
Two minutes later, 'The Bull', the local hero arrived. He had destroyed an EGOarms research facility the week before, which had been working on illegal bioweapons under the guise of an EGOcorp competitor. Super strong and tough, the Bull was nonetheless as stupid as his name implied. When he saw the bank was closed and no one was inside, he stood about confused.
The first round hit him just above the right eye. Normally immune to bullets, this round hit him as a molten piece of lead, and burrowed straight down into his eye stem. Roaring in fury, he rushed in the vague direction of Keira Stokes' assassin team. Smiling beneath her mask, she watched as her team put several more API rounds into the poor brute's head and shoulder region. The Bull's trademark roar turned to shrieks of pain, and he collapsed just inside the garage. A team member stripped his armor off, and revealed a replica of a local villain's costume, 'the Pyre'. In that guise, he went downstairs and melted the Bull's head with a hand-held furnace, simulating the effects of 'the Pyre's superpower. The team then robbed the bank to make it look believable, but the bank was owned by EGOcorp so there was no chance of security feeds betraying what had really happened.
Keira Stokes was born in New Jersey, the daughter of a cop and a schoolteacher. She excelled in school athletics, and did reasonably well academically. Her father was mildly crooked, and imparted some of his racist cynicisms on his daughter, if not the racism itself. Keira was used to acting out whenever she liked- often let off the hook due to her looks. This festered into fierce arrogance, and Stokes is possessed totally with nihilism.
Stokes enlisted in the Army ROTC at Westlake University in order to afford her education, and found that she was a cut above her class in terms of martial proficiency. During her four years at Westlake, her father was killed by a supervillain he tried to arrest. Stokes still harbors resentment against supers in general. In the two years she owed to the military following her education, she reached First Lieutenant and, with her criminal justice major, joined the FBI. After 4 years of serving in the FBI, Stokes was drafted into the SWORD program. She was deemed a bright and capable agent, with moderate personality issues.
For a year, Stokes was trained in containing, capturing and killing those with superpowers. She successfully detained several villains, and was thought of highly by her superiors. That was, until she was sent to intercede in a suspected villainous attack. On the way in, their helicopter was suddenly yanked to the ground by a telekinetic 4 year old boy, who was sobbing in the ruins of his suburban front yard, hugging his knees. Keira dragged herself from the helicopter crash, and approached the boy, who was clearly an extremely potent super. He was levitating multiple vehicles and tons of debris in a lazy circle around him.
At that point, Keira made the fateful decision that no one should have that kind of power. That, coupled with his apparent inability to control himself, and her dislike for supers in general lead to a pretty sick choice. She pulled a pistol, and with only a moment's hesitation, executed the boy. Unfortunately for her, she was not the only survivor of the helicopter crash. One of her fellow agents radioed in her actions before she could act.
Keira was expelled from SWORD and prosecuted for her actions. Stokes was looking at 20 years in prison, but the judge and jury were mysteriously bought off. After the trial, Stokes was approached by an EGOcorp representative, who wanted to hire her for her expertise in super-hunting. She was put in a special unit of EGOsec, the security branch of the company. EGOcorp research labs were being pilfered by villains and destroyed by heroes in equal measure, and EGOcorp decided to create a unit dedicated to hunting down troublesome supers. No one was better suited for the job than Keira Stokes, who now leads a squad of similarly suited blackops. Sometimes, EGOcorp wants the supers captured for use in experiments, other times the squad is told to murder them. Keira prefers the latter.
