Confused by the cities of Mercury City Supers RP?
MERCURY CITY
Mercury City is the focus and namesake of our RP. It is a clean city by a bay that focuses on technology more than the other locations do.
Its public transit system is primarily maglev trains, and the trains wind about the city enchantingly both below ground and above it.
In 2020 the infamous Mercury Bay Massacre occured, and the remains of the USS Midway lie at the bottom of the bay still.
Mercury City's police force is essentially a small, very well-equipped army, and for all the weaponry they use they still have the heart of a true-blooded police force and are one of the best in the nation. In fact, were they not paid for by the city, they would likely be considered a superhero group by the goverment. Due to this, the MCPD and the superheroes of Mercury City often see eye-to-eye on certain issues, and some supers have been occasionally put on the payroll, when convinced to identify themselves.
EGOCorp and Cygnus Corp both have labs and buildings here, with Cygnus Corp's home headquarters located in Mercury City's Downtown area.
Mercury City is comparable to Los Angeles.
BLACKWORK CITY
Blackwork City has been slower to catch onto new and available tech and as such still retains much of its problems from the 20th century, leading to vast problems with pollution and young men and women born as powerhumans from the toxic waste that has seeped into the land.
Lately though, effforts have been made to clean up Blackwork's enviroment after such dumping was finally made illegal, and many of the heavy industries of Blackwork have been forced to become safer and less dangerous.
Blackwork's transit system does have buses and a subway system in the middle of transferring to maglev trains.
However, due to the dangers of Blackwork and its lack of safety at night many choose to drive rather than brave the transit systems, leading to more pollution problems.
Blackwork also has an elaborate underworld of oranized crime, and many businesses in Blackwork have been touched and tainted by such, including EGOCorp, rumor states. Due to this the police often have a hard time and would have all but given up without Blackwork's heroes.
EGOCorp's headquarters are in Blackwork's Downtown area, which is primarily a center of commerce and the oldest buildings in Blackwork, as well as where the slums which are slowly being erradicated are located.
Blackwork City is comparable to Chicago.
WALSH
Walsh is a good example of the average city in this time, if a bit underdeveloped in technological features, aside from the small fact that underneath all the normality the city has a secretive and long kept magical tradition that is hard to break into, unless one has been born into this magic society.
This is reflected in the fact that its libraries and schools hold the occasional magic tome and writings, its churches, temples, and religious buildings seem all the more holy and sacred compared to those of other cities, to those with the right eye.
Walsh is the only city of the three that has a forest nearby. This is also partially populated by the above beings and a few reclusive humans, as well as normal animals and the occasional forest ranger.
Walsh's human population is also punctuated with many magic users, ranging from young children to elderly men and woman, with all manner of abilities, skill, and power. Due to this, in certain parts of the city, small private schools of magic of various types can be found, for those learning magic full time or those studying after school or part time, if one knows where to find them.
Walsh's transit system is mainly buses, as subways can disrupt the flow of magic- the leylines of the world- unless correctly planned.
Walsh is also unique in its feature that due to its magical population, its population has to be prepared for occasional minor magical apocalypses or large magical accidents.
Due to this, its police force has a special team that relies on both the traditional weaponry a police force has and methods unorthodox for most police, magical talismans and the occasional sword. This special force is largely unknown to the general public.
The abnormally large amount of intersecting leylines in Walsh has such an affect on the metropolitan area that even those who do not know of the existence of magic do not notice the strangeness of the city, even in the midst of it.
Regardless, Walsh is an excellent city for raising a family.
Walsh is comparable to the Minneapolis-St Paul area.
FLORENCEVILLE
Florenceville is a small town of perhaps a few thousand, with a primarily agrarian economy, and as such is surrounded by farmland.
Despite its size, it too has a few supers living in it, who often commute to the cities for hero work when they're not helping in their hometown.
Florenceville even so has still had some issues with supervillians and the occasional minor problem with crime, suprisingly.
