This is a basic guide for character creation, roleplay, and adding more to the roleplay. Best for first time readers. If you want to learn more about something skipped over here, it's best to look in the thread posted for it.
Note: This is updated information of what is in the orginal threads. If you find that information contradicts what is in the original post, use what is here instead.
___
Character Creation:
Character creation is an important part of roleplaying here. Your character needs to not only be interesting and fun to RP when they're in costume (if they have one), but fun and interesting to RP when out of it!
Superhero comics have been out for a long time, so there's pretty much a guarantee that whatever you decide isn't new under the sun. But remember, it's what you do with your character that shows how great they are, not what sort of powers they have or do not have!
Roleplaying:
Mercury City Supers is a written roleplay. That means you don't use dice, you use your keyboard. The better you dictate what you're doing or saying or anything for your roleplay, the better it is.
Housing
Houses are generally your homebase or what not. Not everyone operates out of a Batcave or Fortress of Solitude, so working out of your bedroom or kitchen is generally some heroes' best bet.
Houses need a description as to appearance inside and out, as well as an address, whereas apartments only need to tell what building it is and the appearance inside.
You're expected to use your house for RPing as well, and if you live in an apartment use 'Reply' to make sure the subject of the post is the same as that for the description of your apartment.
Events:
Events are one time things that are NPC generated or PC villian created. They occur in precreated locations if made by NPCs or could be in a whole new thread if made by a PC. You can always choose to take part in these without worrying about becoming dragged into a plot storyline.
Plots:
Plots are basically NPC created Events strung into a story that can be followed through by any who cared to read it in order. Plots, with Events and normal RPing make up a character's storyline. Plots normally have impact on not only those RPing in that plot but in the rest of the city it takes place in, and other locations as well. Plots can be strung out and have other things between each part, or it can be one long part of your RP, each after the other.
You can send ideas for Plots to The Administrator via IM or PM.
Storylines:
A Storyline is basically what happens to your character, especially when that character has been involved in a Plot.
Groups
The Groups seen on the main board can only be seen by those who belong to that group. These groups can be used to set up RPing, brainstorm ideas for a Plot to submit, or even just hang about semi-RP style.
Remember if you have more than one character, and they all should belong to different groups, make sure you can access the necessary group boards.
Or, if you want to set up your own superhero group, supervillian group, or such, just set up a petition in Welcome to Mercury City; when there are at least three willing to join, it'll be made and your member group changed accordingly.
